However, we do recognize that the Catholic church has been carrying the torch of Romanism for over 1500 years. The Church differs from Romanism in many ways yet we see ourselves as a reform movement of Catholicism more than a reconstruction of Ancient religion.

We acknowledge that tradition, even Christian tradition, cannot be completely disregarded because the Christian tradition is a part of the identity of the west. We call this the Veil of Catholicism. We have passed through this veil and been changed by it in more ways than we can fully comprehend. To reject this truth is a rejection of reality and an assault on the authenticity of our identity.

We can no more become ancient Romans than we can become medieval knights or vikings. However, that does not rule out the possibility of reforming our traditions to better conform with what we know to be true from philosophy, theology, and religious experience. We are beginning the second reformation which will acknowledge the mistake of the Nicene interpretation and renew our commitment to the Gods and our spiritual liberation.
